Shake Shoppe Arcade Opens in Seaside Heights

The Seaside Heights boardwalk is now home to the new Shake Shoppe Arcade which promises to step up the family entertainment industry’s game with its visually impressive, one-stop-shop facility.

The Seaside Heights boardwalk is now home to the new Shake Shoppe Arcade which promises to step up the family entertainment industry’s game with its visually impressive, one-stop-shop facility.

The six-thousand square-foot shop, which is located off of Hancock Avenue, celebrated Memorial Day by having a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony complete with free ice cream for it’s first 200 customers.

Now families will be able to come to the boardwalk, relax, and indulge in the comforts of having food, entertainment, and dessert all under one roof.

The idea for this arcade came after the destruction of Hurricane Sandy in order to revive the business that stood before it just this time last year.

The building’s owner, Patti Hershey, lost both her newly renovated business and home because of Sandy.

Hershey admitted she didn’t know what was going to become of her business right after the storm.

However, after teaming up with family owned and operated Hershey’s Ice Cream and Florida based company PrimeTime amusements, it’s not just business as usual for Hersey, it’s a whole new kind of business.

“It was a good fit, everything sort of just came together,” Hershey about partnering up with the two companies.

This team of business owners put together a business in 90 days that usually takes at least six months.

The unique combination of boardwalk amenities that Shake Shoppe Arcade has to offer is what PrimeTime Entertainment President, David Goldfarb, thinks is going to make it stand out from traditional boardwalk arcades.

“We started from scratch and made it look new and different for today’s times,”said Goldfarb.

Being part of a south Florida based company, Goldfarb is no stranger to the devastation caused by hurricanes.

So when it came to structuring the new shop, Goldfarb made sure everything was put together using the more stringent building codes that are used in Florida.

That includes the extravagant foam ice cream fixtures located on the shops store front.

The fixtures were designed, built, and created by Prop Creations in order to stand out and draw in potential customers walking along the boardwalk.

Also featured inside of the shop will be wall murals painted by local artists.

Shake Shoppe Arcade is still putting on the finishing touches, but is now open seven days a week.

Hershey has taken a huge sigh of relief now that she is welcoming the first post-Sandy summer with her new shop open and ready for business.

“I think it is going to be a great summer,” said Hershey.

Shake Shoppe Arcade will be open Sunday through Thursday from 9:00am to 12:00am; Friday through Saturday, 9:00am to 3:00am.
